Melbourne MOLE clinic using Micro-Thermocoagulation is a blending of radio and high frequency micro-currents which
pass through or cut off the skin abnormality
The technique works on the principle of liquids being attracted to heat which is released by probes.
Treatments are very quick and may not even touch the skin's surface. It is the elements of radio and high frequencies that arc onto the skin, which attracts the moisture located in the skin abnormalities, with a result of the abnormality being separated from the skin’s surface.
This is turn causes the skin lesion to dry, turn into a scab, and then our natural wound healing process takes place. Results are generally seen 1-2 weeks post procedure. We only perform procedures which are in the best interest of the patient.

What is the procedure?
Step one is seeing your GP (or our on-site GP) to have your skin lesions checked. Once your Doctor Consent Form is signed by a GP stating that all lesions are safe for cosmetic removal, it is time to book your consultation. We can combine a consultation and a treatment in the same day once your Doctor Consent form meets our standards.
In consultation, our therapist will explain the treatment in detail, including aftercare advice and answering any questions you may have. Your skin lesion will then be sanitised, and anaesthetic cream will be applied for 10-15minutes. The removal treatment will then take place, finishing with a Medicated powder application to keep the area dry and infection free.
You can download Doctors Letter and sign it before coming on consult, then we can combine consultation and treatment in one visit. Read and download here Skin Irregularity Info Sheet and Skin Lesion Removal Info.
What happens after removal?
Lesions or cyst removal is relatively simple and in most cases you can return to normal activities the same day.
- 1. Avoid exposing the skin lesion to water and exercise for 12 hours post treatment
- 2. Avoid swimming/saunas for 1-2 weeks
- 3. Apply a Medicated powder on the treated skin lesion morning and evening for 1-2 weeks
- 4. Avoid picking/scratching at the scab
Advise the following aftercare:
If you have a dressing you will be told when it can be removed; Vaseline is normally then applied to keep the wound moist for 1 to 2 weeks until healed; The wound will be red for 2 to 3 weeks, which gradually settles over the next few months; Massaging with oils or moisturising/silicon (dermatix) creams is advisable after 2 to 3 weeks to help reduce any scarring; If there is any increasing pain or redness, consult your doctor.
Will I have a scar?
All mole removal procedures, both surgical and laser, will leave a small scar which is normally far less noticeable than the original mole. We use the latest techniques to ensure any scarring is minimal. Rarely, some people with very dark or light skin have an abnormal response to healing and end up with larger scars than usual (hypertrophic or keloid scars).
What are the risks?
Fortunately with mole removal the risks are very low and it is a safe and simple procedure. With any surgical procedure however there are potential side-effects such as infection, bleeding and scarring.
